  Love is just
    a four letter word
      ~ Bob Dylan

tender rain
window open
smell of want hovering
he sits in a kitchen chair
playing his guitar
no words
chords going nowhere
just
being chords

I lie on the red sofa
patchwork quilt
faded blazing colors
lap spread
pocketing bare toes
babies asleep
food put away
rain and guitar chords
stitching the room close

bed of wishes
limbs tangled
spinning me content
melding me safe

I fall all night
landing
in slim scratch of sun
thump of hurt

the rain has stopped
the guitar is gone
I guess he left with it

A grain of poetry suffices to season a century.

ahhh Lady

Such a cozy and loving scene you made into your room, and then he left with it.  How sad that is.  You touched me with this poem!

Lady
That often happens with day dreams.
A delightful read.

It was a very comfortable poem.  I liked it and wanted to be there listening to his music. I wish he hadn't left.

Wonderful write !  (((Lady)))   I found it bitter sweet.   I am sorry for your heartache.
But...I am glad it stopped raining.  It can be so hard on a guitar.

Goldenrose, thank you so much.

I am laughing Uriah.  Rain can
be very rough on guitars and hearts.

Thank you for your kind response

One of my favorite quotes icebox.
It's quite often appropriate. Thank
you.

Dylan is just a four-letter word....I haven't read all his work, but this poem is more real, and it carries more truly-expressed emotion, than anything of his that I've ever seen or heard.

He's an icon, but that kind of thing is mainly marketing....you're the real deal.

Lovely hewn images lady. Curl up with your patchwork quilt and let the rain wash away all that doesn't belong

I'm caught up like a fly in a web; the foreshadowing took me unaware.  Bob Dylan's quote is deftly painted in "chords going nowhere, faded blazing colors, fall(ing) all night"--then the stark landing, as if it were all a dream.

Very nicely done!

this was nice, reminded me of when I was visiting my girlfriend.  She put on a CD and said, who do you think this is?  I listened and replied with great admiration...I dunno..she said it was her brother...amazed as she explained, when he can't sleep, this is what he does...it was awesome...he is awesome, pulling words out of the blue...singing to me and you...he also paints...what a talented family she has.

anyway, this is what your poem brought to me today, that one moment in time, when I was both amused and dumbfounded...

well done

The most striking thing, I find repeatedly about your poetry, is how the richest people in the world, are those of us that have lived through the brightest and darkest of life.  My deepest admiration, for your focus on the brightest.

Heck no Page. I went out and bought my own guitar. Can’t let that kind of stuff get you down.

Thank you terasinas. The rain does wash it all away in the end, doesn’t it?

Oh my Karen. I like your reply so much. It’s a poem in itself.

Maybe that’s what poetry is supposed to do LeeJ… bring back memories… I’m glad it did for you. Thank you.

Thank you for your kind words and hug TD.
