Has the cancer's ravenous appetite been appeased ? Or does the glutton continue to feed upon its prey ? Does the passing of the host bring death to the disease ? Or is the wretched monster ghoulish in its ways ? Are you still disheartened by your disability ? Are you still self-conscious of your disfigured, hollow face ? Are you still plagued by my lack of responsibility ? Has the state of peace you sought, finally taken place ? Do the shadowy images of the past still come to daunt you ? Forgotten spectres that conscience memorized. Do the ghosts of Europe's foxholes still rise to haunt you ? Have the demons of the bottle been exorcised ? Is it Paradise or do you just abide it ? Did Grandaddy smile and tell you he was proud ? Has the pain within your severed leg subsided ? Does the Texas Troubadour waltz across the clouds ? Do you and Mom have time alone, together ? Is it now the way you dreamed that it would be... When you pledged eternal love to one another ? Are you happy ? Do you have youth ? Are you free... To walk hand in hand along eternal pathways? Is there marriage ? Is she allowed to be your wife ? When you entered the gates... Did Mama meet you halfways ? Are your initials carved into the Tree of Life ? I often wish that you could see your grandson... Perhaps you do... I wish I knew for sure. Linda and I named him Joshua Aaron; He's three years old. In October he'll be four. Oh ! I pray that your suffering has ended, now that you've shed your mortal skin ! 'Though the loss is great... If your tortured heart be mended... I'd gladly face the loss of you again ! |

You are one of a kind. Or at least you can spell it out better than most I know. Thank you, martyjo |

Thank you for letting us in on a very private conversation with your father. I can see you love him dearly. And I can feel that he is very proud of you. Some things are just known. Caroline He who wants a rose must respect the thorn. |

Uriah....so many questions, ones that most people have that have lost a loved one...I know I do. I believe that mortal pain is gone after death...not sure if there is another different kind of pain...perhaps there is as lessons keep on, and the spirit keeps on learning. Wishing you the best! |

Thank you all for taking time to read another of my ramblings. Thank you for the kind comments. (((Martie))) It was the right write for the night. By an act of grace, these questions no longer arise. (((ALL))) |

I tucked this one away for a day...to read when I thought I could handle it... There are moments when I too, have "so many questions" weighing upon me, for Daddy..I lost mine when I was 16--He never saw either of my babies... "Ramblings" sometimes make for good poetry...Thanks for sharing these thoughts.. hugs, g "Home..is for free expression, not for good impression..." |
