Hell of a Price for a Song |

I was born a rebel and I've fought the Devil, since I was old enough to stand. At times he had his way, but looking back, I must say... It did help me in becoming a better man. Parents and teachers would say... Larry's been good today, but his bad side, he sure likes to flaunt. Maybe he's retarded or a little slow starter... Will he ever decide what he wants? I don't know if it's right or wrong... But it's a hell of a price...for a song. At the age of ten, I had a friend... He was more like a brother to me. At the age of thirteen, I took my first girlfriend, and Bubba, he took to the streets. We went seperate ways and then came the day... A bullet took his life one night. Right before he died, Bubba opened his eyes and said , "Tell Mama I'll be alright!" I don't know if it's right or wrong... But it's a hell of a price...for a song. Daddy turned a drifter after wrestling with Hitler, but he settled down when Mama flashed her smile. Often times he ached to roam, but there were four kids at home, so he'd decide to stick around awhile. It was thirty eight years later when angels took Mom away; No comfort for Dad's sorrow could be found. Less than one year later, Daddy took off after Mama... And we laid Papa's body in the ground. I don't know if it's right or wrong... But it's a hell of a price...for a song. I've had some lovers, but one above all others stands out in my heart and my mind. She was a beauty and I did my duty to try my best to make her mine. But I'd built walls at the time that no human could climb. They were too thick to ever break through. So, she found another and headed for cover... From lack of knowing what else to do. I'm glad she can't see all the letters I wrote... Gathering dust on the shelf. I tried to tell myself that I wasn't a fool... But I guess I was fooling myself. I don't know if it's right or wrong... But it's a hell of a price...for a song. Alot of good days and hard times have turned into bad rhymes. All the rest...are better left untold. There are rhymes just to please me and others meant to ease me... 'cause there's only so much one can hold. So, in place of my tears another rhyme appears... It's been that way time after time... When you're dealing with pain, people aren't all the same. This is how I deal with mine. I don't know if it's right or wrong... But it's a hell of a price...for a song. |

Uriah I was right!! You do write music! And it's good! I don't know if it's right or wrong... But it's a hell of a price...for a song. Great repeating stanza! |

Is your "song" autobiographical? In any regard, you are one fine raconteur! It grabbed my rapt attention from the beginning to the very end! Love & Light, EA |

Who do you like to listen to? Who are your influences in songwriting? |
