I’m walking a minefield of emotions As I traipse through the battlefields Plaguing my mind Looking around at it all Life Death Destruction All at once None at all Any more they are all the same In my state I fight them all Emboldened by the nerves I have found Hidden deep within this bottle Yet still I stand here alone Missiles exploding all around As I fight the dragon in my mind With naught save a dagger Given as a final gift By one who had won his own war Too many years ago It is time, it seems, to wage the battle Alone as the armies press on beside me Each fighting for the other Yet, I unto my own must face The impending clash With the beast large and red Fire of breath and thickness of scales Standing before me About to take his wings into flight With nary a second to lose I lunge Digging my blade deep into his armor Together we ride the winds Twisting and twirling through the air Locked in a single combat That will only be decided with the fatal blow For hours, days it seems The battle rages on Until finally the armies rushing past Stop to gaze upon the carnage They stand amazed Watching with awe and wonder The ferociousness enveloping them As transfixed they remain Spellbound Watching the fight This thing of beauty and hate My blade flashing in the sunlight Spraying me with the ichor of dragon’s blood I, myself covered in blood of my own Neither admitting to our wounds The telling blows ignored As though loving pinches from a child As day falls to darkness The weary soldiers wander home Quietly Each within his own thoughts Wondering if the fight is to end The know not the war rages Even unto Death When the Sacred Dagger is passed Unto the others who stand and watch Waiting for their dragons to arrive |

"Together we ride the winds Twisting and twirling through the air Locked in a single combat That will only be decided with the fatal blow" Powerful poem Ringo. |

Enjoyed Ringo, But a bittersweet joy it was. It left a old dragon or dragon fighter, (it's according to who you ask) wanting to give you a warning. When your getting your nerve from a bottle your fighting that old rascal on his turf. :-) |
