I know you think you know me. I think you think you do; But there's too many MEs for me to introduce myself to you. I can't say once and for all that this is who I am; For up inside of this fleshly wall too many MEs are crammed. Don't keep trying to figure me out. You won't find a solution. I'm sorry you're confused about my constant evolution. Theres no need for you to worry about my mental health; Theres just too many MEs for me to get to know myself. I should be stoned... I should be sainted... I'm just as pure as I am tainted. I should be blessed... I should be blamed... I'm Jesus Christ and I'm Jesse James. Maybe I'm taking chances... My parents warned of dangers... But sometimes when I talk to myself, I often speak to strangers. Theres a picture on my wall of how the world should be... All God's creatures, great and small, in peace and harmony. The lion, the lamb and the child of man; For such a world, my heart does ache. But as much as I pray for that glorious day... I'd love a three inch steak. I know you think you know me, But I don't think you're able. And I'm sorry you're frustrated, that I keep peeling off your label. Theres no need for you to worry about my mental health. There's just too many MEs for me to get to know myself. |

I just love the way you write. Everything seems to flow effortlessly out of your hand. I certainly understand the too many MEs !! Caroline He who wants a rose must respect the thorn. |

I so agree! There is the you, you think you are and the you, you really are, not to mention the you, who is seen by each one you meet. We all have so many facets that we are truly hard to know. I have often told my children that people can find and bring out the best of them and or, the worse. We all have dark sides as well as good sides. So it behoves us all to seek out those who bring out our hidden talents and help to nurture them.Thank you for your excellent thoughts and for sharing them so poetically. martyjo |

I love your poem, but don't agree with a particular thought in it - I think you know yourself very well, perhaps not perfectly (but who can?), but the very fact that you know that you don't know yourself perfectly illustrates just how well you really do! Perhaps I should take back what I said in my response to a previous poem - perhaps you shouldn't go back along that path, after all. I believe, however, that you know yourself and her (presuming it is the same her) well enough to take the right path. - Owl |
