I am the warrior reluctant my dagger lacks the will to kill I fought the fight whole-heartedly yet here I lie, all tattered... torn... bruised beyond repair, I fear the end of this... of me is near I fought... I lost... and no one saw the bleeding 'neath the armor... thin... the fatal wounds inflicted by the aim of friendly fire... It matters not... what time forgot today the truth shines vividly so, celebrate your victory here lies the warrior dead you win... |

Oh, not dead at all, I think -- though a solid hit can make you think you're done for. I think there's a pattern in the way things happen, and one shot doesn't make a war -- especially if it only wounds. ~~(¸¸¸¸ºº> ~~(¸¸¸¸ºº> ~~(¸¸ ¸¸ºº> ~~~(¸¸ER¸¸ºº> |

It's hard for me to get past your title, having lost a friend in a 'friendly fire' incident. But somehow, methinks this isn't about that kind of battle. We just have to stand our ground sometimes, even if it means getting shot down. Brava, for it sounds like you gave it 'your last shot' so-to-speak. |

I believe the current phrase used in military jargon is "Blue on Blue". An interesting read Vicky Andrew |

Vicky, I applaud you for this outstanding write. For some reason the quote came to mind, Never give up, if you give up you have lost everything you have hoped to gain, but if you keep trying, you are already winning. Outstanding hon. Check your email, also. seek the flame within yourself |

"so, celebrate your victory here lies the warrior dead you win..." Not much of a 'victory', this... As always, I enjoy reading your writing..You are a wonderful poet hugs, g "We of the craft are all crazy...all are more or less touched." Lord Byron |

I am the warrior reluctant After a childhood that held a lifetime of controversy... reluctance is a mild term for me stepping into any fray. *S* But... the victory is in the trying... in finding the courage to do the right thing... even if that's small consolation to the mourners. Excellent write!! |
