How did it happen that you have forgotten all of the blessings with which you were born, the soft pulse of your throat high up where skin meets with sighs, the taste of the fire that burned in your eyes when you knew every future was your’s for the taking, the tilt of your hips when you chose to attract, the lilt of your voice as you poised to attack offering anything men could desire, where did it go, where did it go? ©2006 by icebox |

icebox It's sad to see this happen in someone you care about. For some age takes away, and for others, it gives. I have had both and would much rather of it give. A poem I wrote when I was 17...my first poem actually, addressed it this way: When days go by I am not sad for age is but the task, of counting all the wisdoms learned from moments in the past, for life at last is all that you would have it be, and only those who know this fact have truly lived, you see? |

I enjoyed this poem. Sad but good. I especially enjoyed Martie's poem that was posted in the comments section. David (Martie, post it on its own...as "my first poem") |

Bravo, Sir~ You sure do tell it like it is. I'm always singing so forgive me. "well it seems to me some fine things have been laid upon your table, but you always want the things that you can't get" Desperado~ |

Well, my friend, some people remember but then discover that it doesn't work too well on one who is supposed to be old. Then it's the forgetting that becomes an actual goal. Can't win either way, can we? |

I'm not so sure it is truly gone... in every wild wish, roams a woman... |

this is sad, and yet, thankfully knowing I'm still holding onto mine like someone were trying to pull tug of war, and I'm holding on for dear life...hehehehe Good Morning |
