Twenty years of misery Twenty years of pain Twenty years of a friendship She’ll never have again Within the hands of hell And upon his mistress’ breast He left his wife in mourning Sleepless and without rest. Her heart was torn in two When she buried him that day Though her love was dying He had been stolen away In the arms of a lover She finds sweet release Only to awaken to guilt And the absence of peace How could she love another So soon after his death How could she allow him To take away her breath Still, her heart finds a beat all its own Whenever he and she are alone Together they live as one person should Love was the plan, that’s how she could Lyn Eagleton 2/21/06 |
