"The cellar is dark mystery," said the maid. "Here creatures dwell in the click-click-click-guilt knitting their shadows and freed by the dark dancing to larks in their head as they lick the taste of the freedom on each other's lips!" I love her I love her when she is like this The butler was smiling at his lady's bliss. He poured her a goblet and downed all of his-- "I'm glad that they ordered you to silences." He murmered to her as he nuzzled her breast. "I'm glad that I have all of you to myself-- if they knew what they had, then I would be--" "THIS!" She spun in a dance and curtseyed her "king." I love her I love her when she is like this "Lord, may I pour you some more?" She was coy. (The Butler enjoyed playing part of the Lord.) She took the jug and was skillful employ she filled his glass slowly the sound trickled joy as she inquired in her proper voice "Will your Lady be dining or are you alone?" "I love you I love you when you are like this," the butler replied muttering victual bliss. "Sir!" mocked the maid, "I'm unworthy of you!" She dropped to her knees as she unhooked his shoes. She loosened her hair and let fall her tress shaking her head and laughing love's bless. "Allow me," she whispered, "to lighten your load." Massaging his feet as she moistened his toes with the warmth of the port still wet from her lips: "I love her I love her when she is like this" But he wanted more than the worship of her-- he lifted her head with a finger and said, "Tell me some more of the things that you read, and draw in this dust the maps that are kept locked in the glass and the things are said in trust as if you are invisably kept - share with me the knowledge he keeps all locked up..." She stood and she placed both her hands on his face: "The world that is out there is wonderous place!" She told him of spices and art made of glass and simple machines that could make a heart dance with all of the possible things they could do The paintings, the subtles, the authors she knew simply by listening to men who saw through her as an object of their servitude. "Here, I have brought you a gift you deserve." I love you my darling when you are like this She gave him a book that she thought won't be missed. "Dickens," she said. "He write us as if..." Her face colored shadows of flickering flame. "He writes us as though it is they should feel shame. His words are thick smoke from the factories choke of the sky, and the lies and the spirits that broke to build them their castles and make all of this seem lovely and righteous and their consciences are as dead as the children who learn this as right-- I tell you, my darling, I read it all the night." I love her I love her when she is like this Even her pain and her anger is bliss. He nodded and took the tome from her hands and that's when he saw the marked reprimand whelts in a line from the crop of the man who had reputation of temper and ran his horses to death and his wife to the fan hiding her "illnesses" spawned by demands. I hate it I hate it when you are like this "I'll kill him," he vowed as he wept helplessness. "Darling, my darling," she whispered to him, "you mustn't do anything, for all that this is? Is all I'll allow him to do unto me." She looked at him sternly, "It is what it is and less than the future that never could be. Darling, I beg you, to please, be a man and stay with me always and pride can be damned!" I hate it I hate it when he is like this But he took her hands and he salved them with kiss. "I'd rather be poor and burn the Goodbooks that deny us our love and condemn us as crooks for daring our lives for our nights in this crypt and damn me for giving our fates for God's bless." He poured the fine brandy of his master's keep and licked from her wounds all the sting of his weep. Shame and the cellar and dark mystery-- she whispered to him and said, "come unto me" ripping at hooks that had hidden her grace "Come, let me kiss every tear from your face." "I love you I love you I love you too much Bruises will heal and skin becomes tough. But my heart, it will wither in absence of us. I need to feel you much more than I must need live in the satin as maiden of dust. "Read the book, darling, you'll heed what I mean-- that suffering makes life exquisitely sweet when lovers as thieves reign the soul's royalty." He watched her in wonder and sank to his knees, thinking that times at their best are like these... and times at their worst make some sad history: I love her I love her I love her like this... |

I am not nearly as familiar with Dickens as I'd like to be, but if he wrote half as well as you wrote this, I'd best get on the ball. Wonderful write, this. |

I was thinking on the famous A Tale of Two Cities, of course. "It was the best of times, it was the worst of times..." and drawing some paralell concluions in my mind, and then I started thinking about the in-betweeners, like me--neither destitute nor rich, and then I started thinking about the classic authors, and how once upon a time they were new to someone, and then I based the ill-fated love relationship on a friendship I happen to share with someone who "talks books and poets" with me, and before I knew it? I was writing a period piece. (I hope I succeeded in capturing the tone.) Shrug. Don't ask me, folks, I just type the stuff. and oh LeeJ, Dangerous Beauty...did you, too, feel a connection to her? (I feel a connection to every woman who has gone to trial for inquisition, (courtesans too) but then, go figger. ) Kari, pop me a link to your charly and I'd be happy to read. Anything named Charly I am already halfway enamoured with. Susan C? Where ye be, woman? Long time, no type. *frown* Love you angel. desert-spike? smiling here, thank you for reading, and I am enjoying your work in return. (Not always commenting, but I read when I can--you're hard to keep up with as you're very prolific! Dark Stranger, my love, now how do you know these things? I generally write wtih my right foot propped up on my subwoofer under my desk, and yes, when I'm "in the zone" I could twirl a baton with my toes the way I turn my ankle like that. (It's contentment--I do the same thing while nustled under the sheets. pause. That should give you something to think about awhile. grin and ) Misty LIlacs? Thanks lovie, and honestly, I didn't care much for Dickens until lately. It took two hurricanes and a lot of living to realize that: "that suffering makes life exquisitely sweet" Hmm. That works with cookies too. A little bit of salt balances the sugar and the flavor is heady. Yep. Check yer chocolate chip recipe. A bit of salt to render the sweet, sweeter. It's like that in life too. Love and kisses to all! thank you |

Now you are not going to believe this but Tori said, "Wow she writes really great fairytale story poems doesn't she? Gramma, I love this one jas much as her goodnight prayer remember that one?" I said, "What goodnight prayer Tori?" And she recited the first four lines so I could find it. So, when you think no one pays attention or you don't make a dint in a person's mind, just remember this came from a 7-year old that appears to love ya, won'tca? Look out, I may bring her with me for your autograph. Oh, it was this poem by the way she knows almost by heart too, and I must admit I did not know it even existed. Serenity Sleeps Yup, I agree you write really good fairy stories for a witch. LOL This was wonderful and I love Dickens! |

Try as I might, I never could quite finish the Tale of Two Cities, it made me snooze about half way through. But I've never snoozed through a serenity write. Amazing storyteller you are, far beyond your wildest dreams, methinks. |

You even drew Edder out...good for you! As for the "I'm just typing it" part... Oh, don't I know THAT. You don't know it yet...you're still loaning "it" out. As for that link? /main/forumdisplay.cgi?action=displayarchive&number=53&topic=000902 after reading a biographical piece... What you said, about being in between the haves and have nots... yea, it's like that. You done good, girl. |

oh man...you guys make me blush. I wasn't really fond of this one, and almost asked it be deleted until I could iron out the obvious meter problems, but? I'm glad ya'll liked the story. And Sunshine? And Sharon? Those kids could melt the heart of an ogre. Kiss 'em both for me, willya? Tell them to watch the parades and think of me. (I'm going to one tomorrow! yay!) |
