Today wakes me with a feeling of isolation from the rest of the world. As I keep watch over nothing which makes me wonder why I keep trying to find whatever it was I thought could be found. I see the self appointed superiors making decisions that have apparently stopped having anything to do with anyone but the appointees themselves. I hear the questions of the ones that decided everything they touch is gold. They don’t ask to gain but rather to thrust their opinions in what they think appears as an innocent inquiry. They are sure they have all the right answers. They take for granted that we, the isolated, want and wait for them to speak and fill us with their intellect. That our non-responsiveness is the much-deserved bow to their taking the time to help us rather than the lack of interest in their bloated self image. I feel isolated in my disappointment in a world that has lost sight of what is right or good, in the lack of logic or reason, but rather takes the easy way out and lets the one that speaks loudest or most often, have the final say. "too bad ignorance isn't painful" |

We have been feeling on the same wave length lately it seems Susan... I have to sometimes just shake my head in disbelief... Hugs to you today m'friend, and may you find a smile in the day. |

c'mere you. I was raised to do what I thought was right no matter the consequence and some days that's a hard thing, but in the long run? It happens to be easiest. I figger I'm the only one I'm stuck with until the day I die anyway, so if I gotta please somebody, it might as well be me. love ya suze Give us that purty smile. |

I see this in everyone's writings, feelings and how can I not? It is what we live in. The only power we really have is over our selves. I love your voice, keep singing. |

Echoing everyone's responses and applauding you for your poem and your thoughts, especially in their analytical openness and honesty. Yes, I agree with what you said, but then, in this great wide world, we also have the Susan Caldwells and other Pipsters who stand up to the bad. Doing the right thing was never meant to be easy, that is why it is so praiseworthy. Sometimes things are so bad in a certain corner of our lives, that we don't notice the tiny forest flowers of good, but then we stop a moment, look down and there is one of them, blushing at being noticed in its humility and then, there is a honey-voiced bird call, and then a kind word from a human, and then we start noticing the good. May you meet many of the good things right now to comfort you. Mostly it's the little things that count and help us contend with the bad things, especially the big ones. - Owl |

Your voice comes through loud and clear Susan, and the cutting edge is impossible to miss. Sadly, your last stanza drives it home. Great writing! |

Exactly, Susan. We just have to hold on to what is the right and the good....and hope with all our hearts. Thank you for sharing this, Susan. Hugs, Ethel |

which makes me wonder why I keep trying to find whatever it was I thought could be found. I've had this partner and I've been this partner~~ and oh have I ever sat and wondered what "whatever it was" could possibly be, that was better than what was already there. This poem would be poem enough for my week, let alone for my day. |

I too am disappointed Susan so I have changed my question from “Am I making a difference?” to, “Am I being true to my beliefs?” A wonderful poem that inspires thinking. Thank you. |

" oh but you aren't isolated, we're all just drowned out by said world. Oh to have been born a hundred years before I was... Well done and then He created the horse... |
