Inaudible was the blast from the starting gun. He was startled to find that the race had begun. Shocked to see that his life was half faded . Dispirited by what little had been accumulated. Peace of mind was shattered. He was too far behind. Vainly he strives to make up for lost time. An increase in anxiety ! A lacking of youth. Too low in the heel....too long in the tooth. Chin to chest, he ponders where he may have gone wrong. He reflects on the past...to see where time has gone. No distance is gained by searching the past. Too much time has elasped...You have to move fast ! To sift through the ashes, you haven't the time. You'd best keep your sight on the finishing line. Chin up ! Eyes ahead ! 'Though your life spans half over; No race is won, by looking over one's shoulder |

Wow Uriah. You are so right. No race is won by looking back, let alone looking back over your shoulder. A very well written poem. Rhyming is a little off in parts but for the most part, I really liked your poem. I hope to see and read more. Sheri Adams Jesus lives in my heart! He can in yours too!!! |
