There's a million excuses she's come to despise, A million ways she's attempted to hide the tears in her eyes. She keeps the lights dim to shield her broken soul, Pulls up the covers when she's never cold, Hides behind layers, fakes bites of her meal, Draws no suspicion, she plays someone not real. Deep down inside she knows she's living a lie, But it's so hard to give up on a game you play so well. Hiding behind a fictatious smile, she plays a leading role in her own downfall. Her heart is broken, bleeding, and worn, Yet late at night before she closes her eyes. She let's down her guard, let's herself feel, The pain comes down in acid rain, Stinging her fragile core. Shattered inside, she's kept up this lie. Sleeps through the night dreaming of all that was never right and the million excuses she'll be using again and again, In the morning she wakes, before she even touches the ground, she's prepared for the day, beginning her work early, while no one can see, She puts on her armor, closes her heart to feeling, And once again she forgets that her life had ever had meaning at all. Poignantly written, dear SarBear. Masked days like this are not very much fun, are they? |

She puts on her armor, closes her heart to feeling, And once again she forgets that her life had ever had meaning at all. sometimes you have to do that to survive... hopefully not forever though M |
