Cassandra, a riddle of sorts (This Cassandra is a poet here at pip, guess who it is if you like.. ![]() Born Cassandra Rejecter of Apollo's touch But he could not take away your art. A seer, but no one listens Your beholds blocked- By the Gods command, (Thus condemed unbelievable) By those with things to hide, Things that foul, that they don't want to lose. The sky and water, you cry Is a Trojan Horse- clouds (and earth) you scream From a distance Have become a wooden beast; Pretty yet, but poisoned With bellies full of pestilent Greeks. Doubters call you an illusionist, at best, A witch practicing magic, impractical. |

I am never good at riddles, but funny that I should have read earlier today of Cassandra...and her plight. So while I do not know first hand of whom you speak, still... I certainly, as always, enjoyed this wonderful read! |

I love riddles, but I'm not good at them either, and yet? I am smiling, as the legend of Cassandra is among my favorites, and I keep telling myself that just because I can relate doesn't mean it's about me! ![]() As for Cassandra's "plight"? I never really considered it Cassandra's problem --she just told the truth, as she saw it. The "plight" of the legend would be upon the non-believers, and how that stubborn dismissal of her gift led to their demise. ![]() My favorite part: "The sky and water, you cry Is a Trojan Horse- clouds (and earth) you scream From a distance Have become a wooden beast; Pretty yet, but poisoned With bellies full of pestilent Greeks." a thoughtful, intelligent, and intriguing write, Ford. ((((hugs)))))) Much enjoyed. |

Poet friends..... Thank you for reading and your replies.... ![]() This could be any of several women here in pip, that I admire for their mutual love of this earth, and for their poetry, that many times has explained their fervent desire to keep it sustained...Apollo's curse apparently is not working in all circles. "The "plight" of the legend would be upon the non-believers.." indeed so, Serenity... ![]() The poem was written several ways, and for some reason became a riddle (of sorts) Then I thought "what women in pip might fill the shoes of Cassandra in these modern times?" -a tough choice! Subtle hints...lol She has dated a "pestilent Greek", uses funny green smilies sometimes, and is usually mute? lol See replies above.... ----------ice/ford ><> |
