Wish upon a snowflake by Jaime Fradera Now here is something I have always wondered about. If you were to take a snowflake, Freeze it motionless in space, Suspend the law of gravitation, Magnify the snowflake say, two hundred times, And make Time stop, So the snowflake wouldn’t melt, And made the snowflake So it wouldn’t fall apart, What would this magnified snowflake feel like? What dimensions would it have? Would it be thick … or thin? … Would it be six-sided … eight-sided? Would it feel like gossamer? … Like cotton candy? Would it feel delicate and strong? Would there be intricate designs Upon its surface I could feel? If only I could catch them Before they are deformed by impact. If only I could catch them for my study Before my heated fingers make them melt, Before they have a chance to bounce away And get trampled underfoot. I wish upon a star … I wish upon a snowflake … SC Today's aphorism: Hey, nobody's human! |
