It Happened

It happened on a summer’s day
On drifting bells that passed my way
Echoing o’er fields of green
Under skies of gold sateen

The smoothness of the singing pleas
Lulled me into revelries
Tugging at my heart beats core
To hear the message in its store

And one by one the rings did tell
The secret of the sounds that dwell
For wind is but a women’s voice
To reach into a heart of choice

And I was fed surcease that day
Lying on a bale of hay
Staring at the distant door
The one that stays horizons awe

That day I heard forever call
Upon the winds of Donegal.

Very well rhymed, with a smooth flow. Enjoyed the "story telling" too.

I'm with Mark - those are my fav lines too - and i love the feel of laying out, feeling the wind and seeing the sky, yet being taken beyond -

To all my wonderful friends, it's been a very busy 4th for me and my better half wont allow me much computor time. I thank you all so much for your time and your responces. I hope you all had a wonderful 4th.
