we were both taxies before hauling bodies in our empty to destinations unknown I guess we just liked the driving or the pickups and drop-offs for the views of what was coming or who was leaving and an occasional stop there to refuel our buck stop buicks now tomorrow is an oatmeal sky with a melted butter moon and cereal suggestions mush mouthed in wind that gums the trees with toothless appreciation nursing the nipples of a sand bosomed sea for salty satisfaction shall I give you this back drop of cardboard clotheslines and a flashlight without batteries will you dance for me and make your skin perspire before you wear my expressions perhaps as something friendly you finally realize was yours just for not asking for more than a shoplift slight of handful _____________________ dark |
