Listening to every heart

Keeping the Love

I thought of you today
[I think of you every day]
but today, especially…

and I left off putting the ornaments away,
for it occurred to me that if it could stay
one more day,
your small rocking horse
hanging on the Christmas tree,

then I would feel, when I could watch it
move slightly as houses rock
in the wind or by footstep,
lightly, just so…

that I might keep your love visible,
a little closer ~

I thought of you today
[I think of you every day]

as the month is a week closer
to next year’s time, so soon,

I wrapped the small little horse
in tissue and love,
its tail a bit ragged from the years
of coming forth, and delighting eyes,
remembering the last time
you touched it.

It may be out of sight,
as are you,

but certainly not out of mind,
so it is safe, again,
both, all, mine, yours, yes,
all wrapped up, this mother love,

in tissue, and prayers.

ahhh, sissie...where oh where is the tissue warning?  I have so many of these memories tucked away in a special box.  You have reminded me to take them out soon, and touch them as if...well, you know.

Beautiful, touching and tender.
And, very good to see your brother respond.

G'day Kariela.  My dear old mum just recently gave me something I had made at school so many many years ago, as she had kept it all that time.  Her little rocking horse I guess.  It's nice to be loved.

We took our tree down yesterday
It had stopped drinking water-
Had no pulse, now its husk stands outside
by the birdfeeders...a chick a dee roost...
Dead, but still of use..

It saddened me to see it go, and even though this poem ranks high on the emotional scale, it made me happy...Perhaps because how well it explains...feelings of my own..

Thank You, Kari...For the beautiful verse..

For each of us, the slightest thought jars old memories to life and we are better for that.

You "jar" well.  Ken

Tender-hearted, keepsake of a poem. My eyes welled up with remembrances of my own. Nostalgia can have such a sweet sadness to, n'est-ce pas? (Can it not?)...
