illegitimate genius . . .

i
your kneeling figure

embossed
with monastery mirror

am draped for your study.

chiaroscuro,
your play of dark vs. light.

Dearest Tuscany,

Does your proficiency suffice
when deciphering your son?

Verrocchio had laid his brush

he understood
such rusted knots
read backwards
through looking glass

before they needed
to be studied.

St. Jerome speaks,

beating his breast
to the sympathies of a lion
while John the Baptist looks on

emasculate.

The lap of Madonna
is burdened

a geometric precision
on rocks

the only grace
an angel's gaze.

Gesso awash

in elegy.

When research
begets poetry,
the world hangs
a frame
over the sensation.

Beautiful work, little one.

when you write your visions of their visions......you make me want to convert...
so far it's just been by numerous injections

Aye, all reflections read backwards in the looking glass (eye) of the beholder. Though they present with the reality of illusion, nonetheless they are reflections of reality.

The knots continue...........

Excellent write, Sue.

You guys are so good to me, what can I say but thank you for understanding my mad ramblings?

And you see my knots!

*hiding*

I tried to take five or so of da Vinci's work and his life and tumble them into the lap of the virgin.

There is so much, is hard to write of one thing.

You can see his orginal at the Louvre:

Thanks guys, truly.

Dear Sue, you never fail to amaze me!

Your research in depth of these masterpieces inspires words that are music and wisdom, perfect companions for paintings!

Just awesome.

Love and hugs.

Having been tumbled in the laps of a few virgins, I agree that it is a lot of work.

I had a reply, then made the mistake of raiding icebox. LOL

Like a trip through a gallery, one can take away from this an assortment of emotion

Which, in no way

takes away from this

I'm enjoying this feast that you write, and smiling here--

well, we'll talk later.

I admired the construction of this knot very much. Sometimes it is the simplest maneuvers that make for the tightest bind.

OH MY! This is very exquisite. I have been away a long, long time...and have missed deeply these words of yours littlewing. You have such a poetic voice...it draws the reader in with the first lines hook. Bravo!
