Old Old paint, old wine and antiquate As slowly I do dissipate The swiftness of this daily pace And eat my meals with twice of grace With muscles that have lost there spring And muffled are the bells that ring Where sharp of eye has lost its sigh And sleep and dream is now the dye I watch this river swift in flow Carrying new flotsams throw And scratch my head in wonderment At glass and heights of new cement And trails of smoke that pierce the sky That goes beyond my searching eye Up, up into the void of space To look I think for heavens lace Perhaps we’ll find an Eden there But deep inside I do dispare |

Yep, somedays I feel older than Santa's whiskers, but others, I'm too stubborn to admit it. I remember, but don't always practice the wisdom my 84 year old piano teacher imparted when she scolded me. "How are you today?" "Oh, it's been a draining day; I'm soooo tired," I said. Then she told me that it was a practice of her husband and self never to say they were tired. She attributed the self-fulfilling prophesy to their exceptionally good health over the years. Last time I heard, she was in her 90's and swimming ten laps a day. I had forgotten all about this until now. Thanks for your sensitive writing. Maybe I don't feel quite as old as Santa's whiskers afterall! sincerely, miscellanea |

Trust me, Seymour, despair knows no age. What is comforting is the knowledge that others care for us when we do feel bad. /pip/Forum91/HTML/000930.html *hugs* ~tier |

And trails of smoke that pierce the sky That goes beyond my searching eye Up, up into the void of space To look I think for heavens lace Perhaps we’ll find an Eden there But deep inside I do dispare ~*~ A silent [not so silent] tribute to life, Sy, in these last few lines... and as for "old"...remind me when I get home to read this to my mother-in-love - at 96.5, I think she has a few months on you, and will in kind, feel the grace of this lace... |
