On The Bounces of Dreams The night was cold, with a soul of blue, and snow fell so thickly it swallowed light. A snowfall, heavy and thorough as a torrent; yet, composed of delicate, dry flakes. As without transition, the land became a winter landscape before twilight; needing only sunshine to reveal its surprising beauty. My cry echoed against the hills, then rang into the night sky as the wind wore down my hope, parting the snow like a curtain, letting gray light of early morning through the clouds. Then dawn came. The sky seemed impossibly open, expansive as the heavens, wide and unmeasured to the extreme horizons, growing pale enough to cast the hills into stark relief. Morning shadow fought to find sanctuary from the blaze of glory cresting the hills. Trees were topped with light, as if they caught fire, and silver shimmered from the pearly mist lit by dawn; filling me with thoughts of summer clouds, floating on the bounces of dreams, and the wan light of her eyes that seemed so luminous. And for a brief moment, hope kept me looking high, to the happiness, that follows the cry. |
