She is the lady dove of love and queen of all she feels on the rooftop waiting silently for human empathy and it comes in the morning before the sun is high and in the twilight time of intensely coloured sky. Her suitors by the score puff feathers, strut and stalk this lady’s ever sure and most determined walk but she pauses to assess and judge these manly wiles with instincts born and bred in the beauty of the wild. Immature and unaware she turns away this time not ready yet to supplicate the need of birdlike mind to feed amidst the frenzy of fine weather friends and enjoy all the benefits of blithe modern trends. Let no one say she waits until it is too late to open wide her heart to the hand of fate and she does in her prime to procreate the line and nestles into motherhood happy for a time. Suddenly her eyes grow wider with new sight and she pulls apart the nest like a lion in disguise. Her wings have grown feathers not ever tried before and she takes to the sky a lady dove reborn. She comes back again in the wonderment of love this queen of all she feels and simple lady dove and I watch her in the morning and in the twilight time wondering all the while how it is that she survives. But both of us will go to pastures yet unknown when it’s time to reap the harvests we have sown and that lady dove and me will begin again to be regal like a queen in all and everything we feel! Thanks, Chris and Martie. The doves eat a fortune of food but you'd think they were starving at feeding time. What a frenzy! |

Thanks for the read, Jwolfy. We could do with a bit of a chill here but generally I think we have the best weather in the world. Not the most peaceful of countries but I guess one can't have everything. |

Helen what a beautiful story in this poem, then to hear you actually feed them - what a treat! I am sure through strength of conviction we and they will return yet again to fly in a "frenzy." Happy New Year to you as well. Carpe' Diem |

Thanks, Mysteria. I sometimes wish I didn't feed them because of their silent chorus of "hurry up" but who can resist? |

Life is always tinged with our own perceptions thereof and so, yes, thanks from Lady Dove. |
