This life becomes so much to bear
The wicked beliefs of others
Stabbing to get in
Reaching for the soft tissue
Of a brain that has already absorbed too much

A prior life wasted on what others wanted the world to be
I welcomed them and those thoughts
Never once considering what was to become of me
Costing rebirth into a universe further deteriorated

The beginning has no end
Going round and round
I find time is the same and nothing can mend
I wanted to do better and become what I should
Yet my mind seems too water logged with debris
From other times and other people and other beliefs

They haunt me in my dreams

Maybe reincarnation is infinite

The thought leaves me frightened
My eyes filling with regret, my heart heavy
How am I to know what is right?
What if I never choose wisely?
There is no such thing as hindsight

The need to learn becomes an addiction
Leading to an obsession that cancels out
Everything else, leaving me finishing where I started
I have dictated my own affliction

Leaving me no choice but to start again

Susan?

Listen to me closely.

"Wash, Rinse, Repeat" is just a suggestion. YOU DON'T HAVE TO FOLLOW ORDERS FROM AN EXPLETIVE SHAMPOO COMPANY.

There, I feel better, don't you?

Let's dance now.

This is bizarre because now in association with Karen, you Susan, get to share the brains of three more people . . .

This:

Reaching for the soft tissue
Of a brain that has already absorbed too much

ironically, was just talking to Ed about this very issue and he said to me, Susie?  (We were speaking of memory and loss and why things fail us) and he said that we encompass so much in our brains that eventually it has to stop remembering, recalling . . .

This just kind of blew my mind because its exactly how a whole lot of us are feeling.

Well, I have learned to turn my brain off.
LOL, or at least, my ears have learned to tune everything out that doesn't fit easily between them.

Susan?

I know the feeling in this poem and wrote about it in a little different way, but I think it is the same...It's nice to know I'm not alone!

There is a loss of something every day.
More than time with edges I am carved
by slip of rocks and broken tentacles
making me more inward now, than skin starved.

When is the time when the ache is gone?
I dredge the river that flows in me
looking for something within this circle
to upend, turn over, then finally set free.

Thank you everyone.

and Martie?     It's just hard sometimes for all of us.  But we muddle through.
