"I will not read my horoscope"
today I shall not preconceive.
Nay, no one, not even me,
will tell me how this day will be.
So I won't even look at it;
the Living Section goes unread!
Perhaps it's purpose shall be freed
by wrapping up what-my-dog-left
underneath the Christmas tree.
An editorial from Fred-
(a.k.a. the Duncan dog)
also known as "porch puppy"
I'm tempted to just let it be
but lawsy that ain't steam, but fog.
That's all the knowledge that I need--
and whiskey in my coffee, please.
"Out damn 'spot" I said to Fred
before I tossed him out the door.

The Living Section is now dead.
Taking out the garbage, I
cannot help but rationalize
that this must be my lot in life--
perhaps I was a dog before
and some other weary wife
found dog droppings on her floor
instead of gifts so gaily wrapped
a pile of steaming Fred-dog crap.

I must have been a bad-bad girl
to have to cope in such a world;
and oh the irony is this:
I did it all while wearing pearls
and a smile of secrecy
I almost smelled an ocean breeze--
Almost
but ya'll know I tried.

besides my friends, I told a lie--
I sneaked a peek at "Gemini"
before I wrapped up puppy's pile
and again, I shook my head
for this is what my fortune said:

"Expect to be surprised."

It didn't say I should expect
pleasantries or pettiness
No, it didn't specify.

But either way-
every day-

I am astonished I survived.

and a Happy New Year?

My dog...her name is Precious...sometimes I wonder why!!  She delights in pooing when we have house guests....guess where?  Right in front of the guest bedroom door, or entrance to the bathroom they will use...in middle of night fumble with lights off....goosh!!!  Yuck!!  My father in law is here now...and he has this way of raising one eyebrow that puts fear into the bravest dog.  Precious has this chihuahua adorable face...you can't help but love her...still, she's giving me a bad rep.

*astonished you survived*

you mean prayer WORKS?

*smile*

Lady?  I don't know why - you know I have no answers nor do you seek them, but for some odd reason, this turn for you IS an amusement ride . . . sometimes fun, sometimes laughing, sometimes very scary and then downright petrifying . . .

BUT

I am glad I know YOU and not the mean ole nasty must have been a "B" who stood in your shoes before you . . . cuz mine would have known yours and she musta been a "B" too.

We NEVER would have gotten along AT ALL.

see?

*grin*

LOL at the responses,
and my first thought of our
own personal Duncan, poo'ing ANYWHERE
in your vicinity?

It is a call to out him, or just to
get him out of the house?

AND...a personal email
will have to suffice to tell you
what our Abby did...

once upon a time....

but it's not for open.

It's not even for all of the
other places we could possibly
stick it....because by gawsh,
I love that dog....

AND....

I see that smile....

Yep....
I do!

Our Duncan is out of town for the holidays...

But I am sure will read upon returning.

I am always saying that I must have been a very bad person in the last life for what I have dealt with in this one...   So, I know whatcha mean..
And Most of us find ourselves picking up poo now and then, don't we?

*going to read my horoscope*

love you lady!

Karen
I am a Gemini, I get bored easily...I expect to be suprised daily,
(one reason I come here)

After reading this poem, I am not bored.. and that comes as no suprise...as your poetry is always interesting and different.

LOL... I knew I had to read this when I saw the title... for... yassee... Daddy's dog is named Fred. *S* And you wanna talk spoiled?? My sister and I started calling Fred "little brother" LONG ago (though we did take issue with my niece calling him "Uncle Fred." LOL)
He now lives with my sister... she makes sure everyone meets "her inheritance." LOL

Fred hasn't left any such unwelcome presents in the house (my little ancient Mama Kitty takes care of THAT chore in my home... and those ocean breezes ARE hard to conjure *G*), but he thoroughly killed a feather pillow... that just happened to be my brother-in-law's? *G* That got him an "out damn spot" too! *G*

Keep surviving, lady... and keep wearing those pearls... you're a classic with class. *G*

Just think of all the money you could make. Rent Fred out to people who have company that won't take the hint that it's time to leave.  When they step in it and people start cussing, all they have to say is, "Oh how sweet Fred only does that for people he really likes".
