when you were the ivory tree
with limbs of pale subtlety
and you wore the ribbons of silk
at the branches of your wrists

when I was the wind that bound
with my pleasure for ligature
the naughts of your permission
that were perfect cypher endings

when your eyes were liquefied
when they were the soft thaw
melted from a lover's passion
when they were amber edge baubles

offered to my jeweler's loope
as your treasure of precious stones
and you waited in your patient veils
for the punishment of my sanction

as I was enthralled by your immunity
