My aunt Greet

She was there all my life
But only after she passed away
could I look beyond her eyes
and have I found her soul
in all the things
she left behind
With respect
I touched her life
in every piece of furniture
remembering her
pouring tea
reaching down her buffet
for chocolate sweets
Her house was build in nineteen thirty
and never changed since then
she only filled it
with her being
And I became silent
roaming through her empty house
opening a cupboard at the attic
finding her mother's damask table linen
neatly bonded with colored ribbons
never used
Food stamps from World War Two
little notes, penned down
in childish handwriting
and I cried inside
for the loss of asking
But looking into her eyes I know
it is alright

May she rest in peace

~~my aunt died November 7 2005~~ leaving me the task to find the right place for the life she left behind.

Like scattered leaves...my words will flow

Tina, this was beautiful...she does in fact have the same smile, or you hers...

she looks like a queen...sitting there all confident with many many stories to have told...along with a fruitful life and family...hugs to you

Honey, I do so understand how it is,
that sometimes we can only find the
answers, in the silence of the aftermath...

While our family members do share a lot
with us while they are here...it is
in the silence that we learn of so many secrets...

and sometimes, I think that is as it should be.

She was a beautiful woman, Titia...
and left you a grand legacy.

We all know you will never let any
of your family down, because you keep life
alive...

in your photography, and your poetry.
