Deliverance As the hour comes and goes, to be followed by the half hour, a tradition in these matters, I begin to wonder. It’s very true he said he’d call before he came, and he seemed a dependable young fellow. But he didn’t actually say who he would call. Perhaps he meant he’d call one of his mates to discuss last night’s baseball game. If so, I should be righteously indignant. But just as easily, he could have meant he’d call his mother. It would be churlish, reprehensible, to wish him to cut short the sweetest moment of her turgid day. Another half hour prepares to wave and smile its way across my dwindling life-span, and of a sudden I recall something fay about him, an indefinable sense that said- he has trod on sparkling sands; he has danced with sprites and delved the depths with nereids. He did not say what he would call before he came. Will my new couch come to me fluttering on a sourceless zephyr, or clutched in the claws of his pet hippogriff, or balanced on the horns of some great demon beast? I didn’t ask. Perhaps on a primal, basic level, I knew I would not want to know. Now the phone begins to ring. I regard it with a wild and blinking eye. I no longer want a couch. After all, sitting on the floor is a healthful habit- and a hallmark of the free Bohemian lifestyle I have quite recently decided to embrace. He said he’d call before he came. I never said I would answer. Nan (Pilgrim variety) |

I'm lovin that ending! OMG, but now you have me wanting to sit cross-legged on the floor, intending to ignore that phone the one that doesn't always ring with the calls I want! |

Very interesting, Nan... I am still trying to get exactly what you mean by it and don't want to embarass myself... I think I get it, if you care, please explain what this means to you. I'd like to know. Well done. |

You chose the perfect title, but still I wasn't prepared for the last lines... I sure do like them, though... this is great! *S* |

JCP, I was waiting for the delivery guy to bring my new couch and wrote this piece of persiflage. There's nothing earthshaking about it, it was just a way to amuse myself thinking about all the things he was doing besides delivering my couch. suthern girl-I'm so glad I caught you off guard!
