Never Summer Nights Tonight I'm channeling Stevie Wonder tonight I'm singing in the rain tonight I'm letting her smile get the best of me in the morning, I'll be rolling on the floor in pain Heartache feels like an avalanche heartache breaks my back heartache empties my purple veins and my bones shiver for an impending heart attack So tell me, dear emotions, just where you wanna go And tell me to never fear a never summer night alright? Today she's channeling Joan of Arc today I'm tending the fire today I'm bringing out the saint in her leaving the night reserved for my crazed desire So tell me, blue oceans, just when are you gonna swallow me? I gotta know when she crosses the never summer night to make sure I'm not alright And tell me there's a potion I can find, like that #9 I wanna know a local anesthetic to the never summer night to see me through alright I am the tambourine man I am the beautiful loser I am hearing the sounds of silence and I can't see past the curve of her So tell me, snare drum heart, an easy way through this never summer night, because... Tonight I'm surfing the channels Tonight I'm the stinging rain Tonight I'm letting her eyes find the best in me and in the morning, I'll never be the same And in the morning after this never summer night my heart will be drifting into the harbor, perfectly sane - alright? "The moon ain't romantic, it's intimidating as hell". -- Tom Waits, 'Bad Live and a Broken Heart' |

What a great write! You never disappoint this reader, but I really really did enjoy each and every line of this one. And now I'm humming something from the past. ![]() |
