Beneath Concrete
There is a passion
For the weeds to peak
A passion for them to sprout, to seed…
To be kissed by sunlight,
A gentle type of greed.

Beneath snow and covering ice
Dormant lives once green
In Spring will ax the soil
Passion for life be seen.

The weeds have their drive
their purpose...
from concrete will strive.
A need to procreate a passion,
A need such as I've.

I have a speck of music,
    Words that often run dry,
    A little art within me,
but not enough seed to fly.

Yet, Passion lurks, Passion hurts
Until breaking through concrete.

"What do you want to be---to do
When you grow up?"
Continually asks the weed.

I think the answer to the weed is "However the wind blows, such will you be." Our lives are formed by forces we only see in retrospect.  Yet, like all good weeds, we are amazingly robust and able to withstand shocks of all sorts.  We may be pulled up by our roots, sprayed, cut or covered with weed barrier, but let one ray of hope warm us and we are in full flower again.
I loved this write, Ms. Misc.!!  Ken

kayjay,
Your wisdom is showing:  "I think the answer to the weed is "However the wind blows, such will you be." Our lives are formed by forces we only see in retrospect.  Yet, like all good weeds, we are amazingly robust and able to withstand shocks of all sorts.  We may be pulled up by our roots, sprayed, cut or covered with weed barrier, but let one ray of hope warm us and we are in full flower again."

So true, so true!  Thank you for taking time to share philosophy.  Have a good weekend.

TD,

Glad you liked it, TD.  The perspective comes from cleaning out those persistant little guys from our sidewalk.  Only to be more like them!

Great to hear from you again.  I hope all is well.

Startime 55,
I appreciate your kindness.  I think you're right about writing for nourishment.  I've had a real desire to express lately, but just haven't been able.  What a stress reliever it is!  My mind has been too active lately, and the file folders needed to be cleaned!  Call it therapy...

I'd be honored, Miss Sunshine.  Having broken through, I knew you'd understand this.  I'm so proud of you for entertaining your passion to write and publish.  I don't think I have the commitment to do that, but there is something out there for me to do, other than what I'm doing.  I sense it.  I just don't know what it is.

Thank you for your warm rejoinder.  One portion I omitted is that one person's weed is another person's garden.  Looks like you've sown a gorgeous one.  KJ

kayjay,
There you go again!  So true.  I love weeds.  Just don't understand when the neighbors might get upset when I let them grow!  ok, ok... Honestly... I cut them, too... (Sometimes!)  Thanks again, Ken.

Here is a quote by a favorite woman of mine.
"Life is not asy for any of us.  But what of that?  We must have perseverance and, above all, confidence in ourselves.  We must believe that we are gifted for something, and that this thing....must be attained."
Marie Curie
(Madame Curie, nee Sklodowska, 1867-1934, is one of the few Poles that made a true mark in the world and the only woman that I know of.  She pioneered much of radiography and for those of us who've benefited from xrays, we might tip our hats to her.)
My other fave Pole is Chopin.  Ken

Me too.

My dad? Had periwinkle growing out of the cracks in the sidewalk.

That man saw potential in everything.

I loved this.

kayjay, Inerloper, iliana, Nightshade, serenity,

Thank you so very much for reading and commenting.  The thoughts behind this poem have been weighing upon me until finally it wrote itself.  I appreciate the time you took to read and share your thoughts.

Even weeds have their place in our Life Garden. I admire their rate of growth, their strength, tenacity ~ and their survival skills! ~and some are very beautiful.

Some of the weeds in my Life Garden have taught me valuable lessons.

Misce, not only did I appreciate your poem, I also enjoyed reading the thought-FULL replies that it engendered!

Warm hug and a big smile,
EA

misc, I loved this and the replies. I too am a lover of weeds. I leave them where ever I see them. Mow around them too. But I see something else under that concrete, a flowering of another sort. Be not afraid. love, martyjo

More than a little art lies within you, sweet lady... and seeds not borne on wind still find fertile fields in which to grow... I'm grateful you found these blue pages.
