An Angel Cries In her bed of sweet perfume On sheets of silk she makes her tomb, As blossoms picked for her today Fill the room with coy bouquet. Patrons wait to savor her wares, Ravage her soul and strip it bare, Seizing all they want or need Sowing deep their abysmal seed. As she prepares her poison spoon To fill once more deaths harpoon, And breach her soul with toxic lies Her watching Angel softly cries. Bobby G. Jarrard |

Well, this "angel" is now softly crying... Your poetry not only touches one's spirit, it flows seemingly effortlessly from your heart and into the heart of your readers. Love & Angel Light, Linda |

Perhaps I am wrong, but I read this as a death of a prostitute, and not somebody addicted to drugs. Either way (or another), it is very sad and sensitively and beautifully depicted. - Owl |

How could the vision of this poem not bring tears to the eyes of any reader...my heart hurt for the loss and my tears joined with the angel....stunning words... |

Thanks everyone for your comments. And OwlSa, the third stanza does refer to drug use. Also, sadly, there are two possible identities for the "Angel". God bless, bgj |

man, I was going to say it reminded of an OD because of something done to the woman - I don't know it seems she has been abused . . . with her angel standing by watching . . . helpless, maybe even herself watching. God I adore this - everything about its sad beauty. |

Thank you for the explanation, bgi. Sadly, I understand who the earthly angel (I know that is and isn't exactly what you said) is, and my tears and empathy join the angel's. - Owl |
