I see puddles on the ground Left by last night’s thunder sound, Or perhaps it was the rain That beat so steady on my window pane; It could have slid down there. I see rainbows in the grass As if a billion small prism glass Had fallen just a moment before The sun decided to shine once more; I had to stop a bit and stare. I see a cat in the window Where he was yesterday and tomorrow, Watching the day come back After another night of grays and black; Neither of which he really cares. I see mud footprints on the concrete Coming from the park across the street Then disappearing in puddle near Then continues unmarked to some elsewhere, The path they no longer share. I remember seeing starlight, Of course it wasn’t last night, But I remember them just the same Each had it’s own place and name As they dance together in the dark night air. As I watch grass shook by wind, Drips fall loose and the prisms end Become just another patch of grass That a thousand people walk passed; They’ll hardly even notice it there. Feet trample out the small puddle The mud pathway is just a muddle Gone from sight under a hundred prints Nothing left from that journey someone lent; Mud turns dry in the hot morning air. I see the puddles are all gone, All the storms work is now undone, The clean rain swept gutter Starts to accumulate new litter From the passing cars that don’t care. The heat rising sends me inside, Just another day from which to hide, The cat finds a shadow in which to lay Perhaps later he’ll decide to have some play Attacking visions that aren’t there. I see some visions now and then Memories of a futures that might end, I hear the clock tick out wishes As I put away yesterdays dishes, Then move on to another nowhere. A day off with no trail to follow No calendar events till tomorrow, I’m sure the events will soon be filling So I start a bottle to start chilling So if needed it will be there. Oh, sorry LC, what was I thinking There I go another poem with drinking, It’s just a minor flaw I hope you’ll forgive A reflection of the times and place where I live That my poetry always seems to share. But maybe after the laundry I go visit a local winery, They have some new art on display, And now the sun had gone away I might find a sun painted there. Well this has spewed out of me In its semblance of some poetry, Thanks for sharing some of your time While you read this bit of rhyme. Good day to you and take care. Gloom |

Professor, Simply wonderful observations and writing! "I see rainbows in the grass As if a billion small prism glass Had fallen just a moment before The sun decided to shine once more; I had to stop a bit and stare." and to share. So glad you did. Now, can we convince you to thrice upon a rhyme? Very much enjoyed. miscellanea |

*smile* Even your rhymes are complicated structures, but how apt, too, as you write of worlds within worlds, within... and a small chuckle at this: "Oh, sorry LC, what was I thinking There I go another poem with drinking, It’s just a minor flaw I hope you’ll forgive A reflection of the times and place where I live That my poetry always seems to share." you too, huh? Next round's on me. |

Then move on to another nowhere. A day off with no trail to follow...joining you in the nowhere trail... M |
