The moon’s softness bathed them,
lying still in the moment when
slumber devours the passion and
the rush of a torrid hour wanes.

It was then she sensed the
silk that had washed his shoulder,
caressed his eyes and tasted the
damp delirium of his lips.

And it was tears, teasing
her eyes that betrayed...for
it was not her scent that lightly
tickled their noses....It was another’s,
someone else whose flame touched his soul
and bayed the moon before the
curtain’s rustle whisked away what
was not their’s...

It was...it is...unfortunate, real life is not always ‘lived happily ever after...’...sometimes Fate has its own mind.

But, as poetry reflects real life, it can soften the harsh light of reality in a way, that reality cannot.

Softened to tears here, Barry.

And I'll just bet that scent was White Shoulders..

Excellent write Barry.

Barry, you are definately a hopeless romantic, along with a scholar of words, setting them in just the right place for the reader to delightfully swim through
