This was one of my earlier ones. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "The Man Dressed In Rags" My heart had been filled with sadness and pain Depressed with my life tears falling like rain Feeling so helpless with this heavy load I walked out the door down our gravel road While walking alone the sun on my face With air smelling sweet in this peaceful place But then suddenly behind me I hear The sound of another their footsteps so clear I wasn't afraid as I turned around A man dressed in rags was what I had found No names were exchanged he gave me a smile And said "May I walk with you for a while?" As we walked he said "Your troubled I see Would you like to tell your problems to me?" "No thank you" I said "That just wouldn't do" He said "Then I'll tell a story to you" His voice very sweet as he told to me How Jesus had died so we could be free The nails in his hands and spear in his side He carried the burden of all till he died Yes this was a story I knew all to well I needed to hear it how could this man tell Soon at the crossroads, the man had to leave He held out his hands for me to receive He whispered so soft "Remember to pray Freda God Loves You especially today" There were the scars from the story he told Deep in his hands just for me to hold As I looked at him he faded away And so did my pain on that special day So now when my life seems to much to bare "The Man Dressed In Rags" will always be there © By: Freda H.
