Tonight
November 1999

Tonight my wide African sky
whispered its greeting to me
in an artist’s palette of multitudinous blues and greys;
and infinity ebbed into
my breathing,
my thinking,
my being,
like the serene voices of monks at evensong;
and the clouds carried my reply
to my brother,
the sky.

I've never seen your sky, and probably never will....not with eyes, at least. Still, I feel I know a bit of it now, through its effect on you, and in the reverence in your voice as you tell us of it.

Thank you Ratleader, iliana and Enchantress. I wish I could send you all some of my sky. It is very beautiful. I love my country very much and I sorta think it shows. My life is so mega-stressed at the moment and seeking serenity keeps me sane - or as sane as I want to be!
