I will take you one day to the ship of miracles; tread gently lest you fall into history’s open arms that never promise more. In these days of quiet disdain the ship cannot set sail but laps against the pier forward-back, forward-back, to the rise and dip of apathetic energy emanating from a brain. Conditioned to the wait it yet bemoans its fate because the chip and peal of belief has cracked the upper deck and allowed the sun of no love to burn the inner hold. Back and forth, back and forth; who boards a groaning ship seemingly unworthy of an attention span? Not me and yet perhaps one foot to test my weight on every step up higher, high, to where the captain stands invisibly so powerful as to pull me up … but creak, groan, splinter, crash and splash; what matters is the feel of that miracle called “me” dropped into the sea of life to swim because I can!
