Day is coming to an end
across the Kansas plain,
walk softly, not a sound
hear vespertine’s refrain,
a croak of the bullfrog
from down by the pond,
the song of the meadowlark
is coming beyond
the edge of the hedgerow
which shields barren field
now lying fallow
having rendered its yield,
see Cowskin Creek
creeping slowly along,
its currents are whispering,
they sing autumn's song,
south winds are dying
giving birth to night’s calm,
walk softly I say,
soak in evening’s balm.

As we cuddle in
for the long sleep...

still, candlelight will find me
searching for Tim's poems...

I love it Tim! It reminds me of growing up in Iowa.

How odd a feeling it is, to be sitting here listening to AC-DC blast out of these studio monitor speakers of mine....while reading a poem about quietness and solitude.....but somehow it works!
