What Simmers Beneath The Ice |

The mirror peers back; two icy floes adrift Conceal too well what simmers in the deep; This frosty veil a shield I dare not lift, Though heart so dreads a cryogenic sleep... Vesuvius! Unleash your brutal force And spew your magma thru my gelid veins! I resolute await your chosen course At arches of Pompeii — so burn the chains That bind my soul to perpetual frost -- But the mirror keeps no tally of my plight; In its impassive face I become lost, While within my soul courses inward fight: To naked welcome passion’s fiery doom -- Or seal the heart in frigid, icy tomb...
