May - September

I confess,
the thought had never occurred to me.
Regardless, there you are,
distant
and twenty.
You notice I didn't say 'light years',
(smiling parenthetically).
Curiously enough, it's not your youth
that fixates. Stars do that
equally.
Nor is it sex, a subject much too complex
to be regarded at face value.
It's something else. Incidentally,
may I suggest a class in astronomy?
You'll study laws of attraction,
and relativity, and the ageless dance
of binaries.

Hello Bob,

I see you've been focussing on writing freestyle poems for quite awhile. I enjoyed how this one rhymes every now and then. A pleasure to read, as usual, and thanks for sharing.

Matt

P.S. I sent you a message via this forum's email function. I don't know if it went through.

P.P.S. Browsing through your poems history, I failed to find many of the old favorites that are much too beautiful not to be reshared every once in awhile, and I feel someone really should start nagging you to consider reposts.

Matt ... I did receive your e-mail. Thank you so much. We do go back don't we. I was truly amazed by your recalling some of the poems from what feels like antiquity. The last two days have been scramblers, what with trying not only to capture the remaining bit of poetic swell that I've been riding, but also trying to attend to business. The latter is winning out over the former I'm afraid. But that's the way it should be. I'll write soon. Thanks again.

While the moon and the clouds come spinning
Will you whisper my name again?

Wonderfully said Bob!
