I'll probably never catch your eye mid conversation with myself over the best value tea in an aisle, (I should be embarrassed but...) You'll never feel that panic that skimmed his skin so comically from seeing my face appearing amongst the ordinary shoppers and trolley dash. I thought that, as I saw an old love that wasn't you Who scurried away (oblivious girlfriend in tow) and stole quick glances at me in aisles thereafter. I smiled, but you wouldn't leave me smiling with tea between my tips barely submerging laughter, brimming with memories of how he adored me. Damned ladies of Orpheus |

Gem, you've always written exactly how I've felt, too. I love this, I could SEE it, FEEL it. Wonderful writing..verily. |

The look, that only 2 can enjoy or is it one? I've been to that store, that aisle, I think I've even had the same tea! You brewed it well! |

You have captured an uncommon moment in a common place...the sidelong glance can be a reminder, a beginning, or a lead to nothing at all...love it when those type of moments are captured by a poet..... enjoyed __________ice ><> |

smiling with everybody else... I heard somewhere that grocery stores have become the #1 place for singles to meet! I've always known that. All that ripe fruit fertility smell in there, the proximity...nod, AND? It's easier to tell if a guy is truly single in a grocery than in a bar. *shaking my head* All y'gotta do is check out the cart...(though sometimes their breakfast cereal choices will throw you off--giggling now) love to you gemma thanks for the reverie... |

Oh gemjop, This is so very good! I had a similar experience. Guy was persuing, calling, single (he said), good looking, and dangling a Harley as bait-(an embarassing weakness of mine). Something felt wrong about him though, so I declined. Later, spotted him at the market with a wife, a wedding ring and children! He ran like a scalded dog, and I laughed all the way home. roflmao, Constance |

It's been years actually since I've been here, but how wonderful to find this first. (Actually, I had your name saved in my private library.) Excellent write. I think everyone's been in that situation even if it isn't always the aisle... smooth people stray by slinking onward |

Enjoyed this. Incidentally, with a slip of the finger on the very sensitive mousepad of my new laptop (Lilian the laptop), I accidentally landed up in Inappropriate Post (or whatever it is called). I got a terrible fright when I realised where I was and hopped out of it backwards as fast as I could, so I really don't think it would have been sent to Admin, but if it was, you can tell them about my mistake. Sorry about that. - Owl |
