In this time of year
my thoughts return to you

Musings on memories
or wonderings of
what might some day
have come to be
claim unguarded moments

Harsh or hopeful
matters no more than
smiles or tears
I just know you're with me
after all these years

I have no explanations
and no answers
but for those
that spawn more questions

I just miss you
even if what I'm missing
is my ideal of you

Some wear their mourning
with particular pride and flair,
and their wails pierce the air, but
hair shirts are unattractive attire

So, naked I stand
hoping you understand
I've done the best I know how
and wish you knew

'So, naked I stand

I feel so confident that when you've done the best you know how to do, they know, they just know~

suthern gal, I go through the same melanchology every year remembering my first love...it was pure and innocent, even the break up.  I was a freshman in h.s. and he was a senior.  He married someone else the year after he graduated and died a year later...I never quit caring for him.  My favorite memory of that time is of the fall we spent time under a walnut tree and experienced my first real kiss.  I understand.   ....jo

Suthern?

Naked emotions are always
the best way to show love,
and respect...

Received your mail.
Will be making shipment tomorrow.

I would have sent it out today,
but just as you have left this
tribute for your mother,

I think it is also a very worthy
tribute for our Veterans.

this was absolutely beautiful and brought to mind many hours spent pondering these same words...

this dear lady

I just miss you
even if what I'm missing
is my ideal of you

in my own febal mind, I think we a lot of times misunderstand a friendship with the opposite sex as a physical love, more so then a supposed to be meeting for growth
and we're afraid to let them go...as we must also, as they were a tool to help us along the way...maybe?

Loved this dear lady...

Sweet Suthern, you write with a soft, feather touch.

"I just miss you
even if what I'm missing
is my ideal of you"

~ Very poignant words, as most of us do have a tendency to idealize those that are no longer with us.

"So, naked I stand"

~ and you are beautiful in your nakedness.

Hugs with love,
Linda

'missing the ideal of you'--but that's all we ever know of each other, isn't it?  Well done, thoughtful and affecting.

Dear suthern lady,
I'm glad you're not wearing that hair shirt. Think of how your eyes would swell up in allergic reaction. Shouldn't laugh at your sorrow but sometimes even the best of us need to smile through tears. And lady you are the best of us.

Here in the midst of my lonely abyss, a single joy I find...your presence in my mind.  Unknown

This is simply beautiful, Laura...and its loving message makes me happy to see it here. I wish she could come back now and meet the daughter she raised, because I know she'd be in awe of the woman you've become.

Thank you all so very much!! I had a long talk with her on the 10th... for though I didn't expect Daddy to leave so soon, I was afraid this fall would know more sorrow.

And whatever standards we set... or have set for us... doing our best is really all we can do. Thank you!
