~is the seafloor succumbing to stagnation, starvation?~ Reluctant resources fail to replete... Strolling along the seaside is painful these days, for the beauty that has always been abundant is nearly deplete, as at my feet I see signs that teeming life does indeed subside with each new year’s oncoming tide. I am observing nature’s failure to thrive, the inability of millions of lower levels of life to survive the heat of our wasteful ways, as once prolific plankton disappear from view, and I am seeing less within the waves. Time is of the essence; for what is happening on the sea floor may be irreversible. But one can still hope that whatever we careless humans have been doing to aggravate this scene can be amended. I can only sadly guess at the future, (and see the sea in a doomsday scenario not unlike what some observant ancients have prophesied) by observing firsthand, with my own eyes and spirit, the dwindling numbers of God’s finned and feathered creatures at the edge of all visible reality, the shore. And it is not simply an Earthly portrait of damaged seashores and crushed shells from the natural forces of tsunamis and hurricanes; indeed, some question (urgently) that many of these forces may well be connected to human misdeeds. But irregardless of the cause the effect seems to be the same; stagnation and suffocation of the hidden life within the seas and in the air. And what summation do I see from the land and sea? The survival of all species on planet Earth is at risk, and time is of the essence. Today I seek a magical clock, hoping it is not too late to reset the hands of time as they wash away all trace of Life from the face of Mother Earth. |

Dear Kacy, it is important that we stop being blind to Mother Nature's cry for help. Thank you for your sensitive and sensible write. Time is of the essence and even though we might be near to extinction of life, we must not give in to despair. The awareness of what's actually happening is growing and when the famous critical mass will be reached, the inversion of direction will begin. ... and you are contributing with your wisdom and beauty to this process. Love, Margherita |

Margherita, what a thoughtful and warming reply! Thank you, for adding to the hoped-for directional inversion. |

Now you know I feel this one right? I see the damage done daily along the ocean's edge, and all of us felt her warning this year. Will it be enough to scare us into caring, who knows Kacy? All we can do is our part, and hope it is going to be enough. You write so sensitively of the elements and all they should mean to us. |

a quote this past summer: "The oceans are generally warming up, and there are all sorts of signs that something strange is afoot," said Ronald Neilson, an Oregon State professor and U.S. Forest Service researcher who specializes in climate. "It's not new to have change happen. It's how suddenly it's happening." Sigh, guess we've both lived long enough close to the sea to see changes that are not promising. Thanks for reading, Sharon. Carpe diem, m'friend, for we must embrace and enjoy whatever beauty there still is each day. |

Kacy~ If only we could 'reset the hands of time' ... but then again ... would we still have the same idiots plundering the land ? ... yeah, probably so~ *sigh* ... we can only do what we do ... but so many seem not to care at all !!! We all can begin to TEACH, TEACH, TEACH ... and by example is the best way I know of~ Two little grandie girlies will KNOW ... for they are being TAUGHT ! Hopefully it won't be too late by the time they are old enough to TEACH others~ *Huglets* (Wishing I had a bouquet of MUMS to send your way~ ~*Marge*~ ~*No matter what I search for ... |

smiling at that reply Marge yes, each one teach one...to hopefully reach out to one more yes, to reset time, but NOT to give the hour back to some of the same people Chief Seattle...I remember what you taught me many moons ago, with words of love for your Mother. "Every part of this soil is sacred in the estimation of my people. Every hillside, every valley, every plain and grove, has been hallowed by some sad or happy event in days long vanished. Even the rocks, which seem to be dumb and dead as the swelter in the sun along the silent shore, thrill with memories of stirring events connected with the lives of my people, and the very dust upon which you now stand responds more lovingly to their footsteps than yours, because it is rich with the blood of our ancestors, and our bare feet are conscious of the sympathetic touch." Good write Midnitesun, I wish I could say I have faith that mankind will rise to the occasion, but I have none. |

Some years back a "Pandora's Clock" was a popular novel and movie. However, you've ably described the real Pandora's Clock, ticking away until all that is worthwhile has vanished. Hugs Ken Through rubble and trouble and dark of night |

Thanks for your comment, Steve. I have very litttle faith in humans these days, and almost none that there is any superior force out there that gives two hoots worth about the future of the human race. Ken, I didn't see that one. Tell me more. Jo, hugs, I hope my crystal ball is just cloudy, that what I see, is not to be. ~sigh~ I won't describe what I REALLY see for terra firma and its inhabitants. And I'm not just talking about environmental issues. So, I'll try to throw in some happy funny poetry now and then to balance the equation. |
