The siren howls in the cool winter night Ripping and tearing the calm air to dust It screams for all the of voiceless people Trying to reach the masses huddled in their blankets Though it seems we can not hear it over the whining of our heaters Tonight a homeless woman died Frozen like the hearts of so many Her tears shattered when they hit the pavement Did you hear her last words? A desperate plea for help Or was the TV up to loud We spin the globe and take a look at early morning Africa A baby lays in its crib naked and helpless Crying yearning for its mothers breast This little child does not realize that momma died last Her body resembles the homeless woman we discussed earlier Yet this woman worked two jobs and still could not buy food for her family Will there be a movie praising her life? She did everything right, yet everything went wrong Corrupt governments stealing food from their mouths They call it reality, I say why don't we just call it euthanasia Follow the notes as we bounce to early evening Mexico We take a look a young girl working the street corner Her body battered and bruised like some piƱata No father and mother to steer her in the right direction Once she had dreams of being a princess Now her only dream is not to get raped on her way home Fade the scene to black as another man takes advantage of this precious baby The man walks out of the dark alleyway, yet our protagonist does not The papers will read a prostitute murder, What it forgets to mention, it was that or starve to death Or that she was same age as your little Sally or Jane One more stop on our eye opening journey This time we stop in mid-day China Our eyes land on a factory, that looks like it should be condemned Inside we see children no more then seven working What they are creating range from sneakers to ammunition Limbs missing yet they strive to bring home that money to their family If they did not put their life on the line They would end up homeless like the first woman We all see how that ends up Our world travel has come to an end As I take you back to your comfortable quarters I leave you with this We are in a state of emergency! The next time you feel the need to complain about something Go back to the start and read again Until pain and corruption is banished this little ditty will be valid So please I beg of you make me a liar And make it possible that my coffee had two sugars To be the biggest complaint word wide Tomorrow comes for those who fear it. Today never ends for those who live it. [This message has been edited by poe (12-20-2005 12:09 AM).] |

Poe~ While I willing acknowledge that we cannot change all the world ... we could at least start in our own backyards~ The state of emergency exists in nearly every culture ... and we watch the news and give thanks that it's not us ... then we turn the channel looking for something to entertain us~ The sad thing is ... there is no entertainment as long as the things you mention exist~ Thank you for an intense look at our worldly society ...~ I cry for the fact that I can't help them all ... but I can and do help where I can~ It's not much ... but at least I do what I can do~ Bless you for this piercing penning~ *Huglets* ~*Marge*~ ~*No matter what I search for ... |

Thank you, Midnitesun. I am glad the video feed was able to make it out. Thank you, Marge. I have to agree the only way to begin the healing process, is to begin it at home. It is a sad state of affairs at the moment. you are correct there can be no entertainment aslong as these things do exist. We all try to help in our own ways, and it is not to those that give their hearts to help that I wish to show these pictures, it is to those that do not. Thank you, latearrival. Sometimes the ugly needs to pushed to the forefront. Tomorrow comes for those who fear it. |
