Police sirens, gunshots, two people acting mad A little girl caught in the middle, it's all so very sad Time to go to a new home, come on pack up your things She knows that she'll be safe...she feels the angel's wings Daddy is drunk, Mama pops another pill She's bleeding on the inside, it's all just too real She's only six, where's the parties and the fun? Already her parents are toasted, and the night has just begun Laying in her bed, with little sister nearby She tries to comfort her, and tries hard not to cry Visions of a new home, with parents who are kind It's hard to imagine though, when only haunted memories are inside her mind Then a miracle happens, something only in fairytales and books A social worker, judge, and new family...that is all it took The little girl doesn't go far, at least not in miles Her shattered heart and broken home, are now replaced with smiles The little girl grows up, as all children do She wonders about her past, and hasn't got a clue It was another life, and though not good, a part of her soul She needs to find out the truth, if she has a chance at being whole So many don't understand, she hears the things they say Still though, she knows it has to be this way A part of her heart is still in that trailer, with the drunken Mom and Dad She had to pay the price once, and will again even if it makes her sad For knowledge is power, and she needs to know So off on this shaky journey, she allows herself to go She almost makes herself believe, that things could have changed What she finds though is a man who is cold and deranged She tries hard to get to know him, but he's too strung out on cocaine He can't face the facts, and everyone else he blames He tells her he loves her, he has missed her so much She wants to slap him, and shutters at his touch Her thoughts drift to her mother, the one she really wants to find She has no idea what is in store though, for love makes us blind A memory of a golden brush, as she brushed her mothers hair The smell of her perfume, it's all right there Tucked away inside her memories, deep inside her heart She thinks maybe her mother found a new fresh start Everyone tells her, that her mother is horrible and bad She doesn't believe it though, she thinks her Mother is really only sad She finally meets her Mother, but not like it was suppose to be She sees her mother lying in the coffin, at least from pain she is free Glancing at her mother's face, she lets a tear or two fall down her cheek She realizes in that moment that crying doesn't make you weak She weeps for the dream that was lost, for the things that could never be right She equally weeps for the dream she was given, and the long and bitter fight These two worlds, two parents, two very seperate lives She has to somehow make whole, if she is ever to survive "When life gives you sorrow, may you experience the spirit of laughter" |

Amy Such a sensitive subject, so well done with empathy. It's so sad that there are such families and children who may never understand. |

Thank you both for your kind replies...I wish I could just say that I wrote this with empathy and sensitivity on the subject. The truth is though this is my life...and I'm learning how to move on with my life the best way that I know how. Thanks to you both again. |

Amy I think you still wrote this with empathy and sensitivity, even if it is your story...which makes it harder to feel those things. |

(big angel hugs) Oh Amy, God Bless You for expressing these most deepest sentiments, dearest friend, it is so tragic how so many children in the world, too many children in the world, have to endure this breakdown, all because of the differences between their parents who they depend on to be their heroes, those who will guide them over with deepest love and promise the best of things for them! (wipes tears) My heart goes out to you ever so much and all others who've had to cope with this heartbreak, sweet friend, God Bless all the children and may they all be guided with the deepest love, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Amy, thank you for sharing! May love and light always shine upon you! A couple tears ran down my cheek as I read this. You've done a wonderful job of writing. Reading it, I thought you are either a foster mom or a social worker. Learning this is your own story, I gained an even greater appreciation for how well you were able to put it all in words. Thank you for sharing you soul. May healing be complete for you and your days ahead richly blessed. Rae |

Awwww, this is so sad. It breaks my heart to think of how many children have lived this way, and never had a chance for a better life. |
