November Chill

The lush idea of it is still sweet in the morning light
when I have awakened fresh, or in that late last hour
when the day's bitterness cannot prevail
over the quiet darkness laid down.

The near presence of it, even if only imagined now,
and every day, covers this cold bed,
but like an aging patchwork quilt
is wearing thin of both memories and threads.

The haunting absence of it proves neither
your inabilities nor mine, only the persistence
of the damned curse of us
from which we cannot flee.

a 'haunting absence'....most definitely leaves one with a chill, no matter the month

enjoyed reading you again, glider

~glider~
I came back to read this again tonight, while I listen to howling winds blow a chill across the land tonight, bringing lower temps and higher winds...parallelling today's mood swings.
I still embrace each November chill
as if it were destined to be an integral part of me, perhaps, because this is my birth month. It never matters what the weather does, what matters is how I accept it...with open arms or clenched fists, it shall be whatever it is.
And now that the mosquitos have left town? LOL, what's a skeeter hawk to do, but write some prose or poetry?

Glider

Behind the cold, there is always the memory of warmth...if not, the cold would not feel so chilly.
