In The Susurrus ~*Marge Tindal*~ ~*~ ~*~ ~*~ Soft the sigh that falls from sky, moving the leaves about In a hush of susurrus rush the leaves dance roundabout Fall has fallen across the lawn gaily prancing long before dawn Then upon awake of morning sun I see kaleidoscopic colors in splay daintily dancing in whirl of sound along yonder welcoming pathway Oh what glorious sound is heard as susurrus joins a songing bird Pausing for moment of reflect as gentle spreads the ground Autumnal art makes merry as I lift voice in the song trio of the day in break won’t you sing along Do, oh please do for this day of caring is for sharing with you ~ Word of the Day for Saturday October 29, 2005 susurrus \su-SUHR-uhs\, noun A whispering or rustling sound, a murmur. SusurruscomesfromtheLatinsusurrus,"amurmuring, a whispering, a humming." ~*No matter what I search for ... |

Good morning, Marvellous Marge! I see that you are in fine poetic 'form' this glorious fall day! What a lovely word! It has such a 'poetical' sound to it! ~ and as Nancy commented, it's a great new word for Scrabble! ~ and one I can use to get rid of all those dingdang "u"s that I seem to get stuck with! Hugs with love, EO |

Dear Marge Where do you find these words!!! I tried to say 'susurrus' and was tongue tied. It reminded me of when I was a youngster and had a bad stutter. Anyhow, I read the part of your poem that said, 'In a hush of susurrus rush'. So I went to translate susurrus to rustling and I read out aloud, 'In a hush of rushling sush'. Oh boy! I loved your verse! Love Verbena xo |

I enjoy getting A Word A Dad...it oftimes adds to my vocubulary in one way or another...all for the better. Hadn't seen this word, but thoroughly enjoyed not only the sound of it, but the alliteration all of the way throughout! |
