small feet tap a beat on the hardwood floor that joins mine to the duplex next door and I wonder if those little feet will someday march to war for the family cusses, screams and fights, plays their booming playstation games loud most of the time, days into nights, cares nothing about a neighbors need for sleep and the child leaves toys all over lawn and driveway but I dream those little feet that tap a beat today on a hardwood floor never need say goodbye to loved ones and never march out the door to tap their feet in some senseless war small feet, tap a beat but can you connect them to the rhythm of love, please? just some meandering thoughts listening to those little feet as they run through the house |

"but I dream those little feet that tap a beat today on a hardwood floor never need say goodbye to loved ones and never march out the door to tap their feet in some senseless war small feet, tap a beat but can you connect it to the rhythm of love, please?" Amen to that Kacy...Amen. Heart hugs, Nancy |

Thanks, Nancy. It's hard to imagine someone growing up with a peaceful mindset when the little guy gets cussed out every day by both parents, and isn't being shown the importance of respecting his neighbors. ~sigh~I still have hope though. |

Kacy - I'm afraid that this type of abuse and neglect is happening all too often nowadays. It should NEVER happen. Children are God's gifts to us and the future is in those tiny hands. Bless them and bless you for writing such a touching piece. hugs, Chris Poetry is an echo, asking a shadow to dance. |

Thanks for reading, Chris. This is more about how things were the past six months around here. After I intervened, via a 911 call one night and a landlord call, they seem to have settled down a bit, are trying hard to workout their problems faster and more quietly. I sure hope they get a grip on this now, for there are three small souls in that house, all under the age of five. ~sigh~Let us have peace on earth, PLEASE! |

Good for you Kacy for making that call! It is too easy to just look the other way or turn a deaf ear. I pray for peace as well. hugs, Chris |

First I smiled, remembering, and then a cold chill... Y'see? I once lived in one of those crawl-spaced apartments, when my children were just tots. I was speaking with my cousin outside as they napped when we heard--BOOM BOOM BOOM. Yep. My son had awakened from his nap, and was stomping around looking for me. I looked at my cousin and said, "THAT," I smiled, "is the pitter-patter of little feet." May that be the only boom-boom-boom his feet shall know. Love ya Kacy. Keep the good peace fight going. |
