It was— after all
No more
Than the picture of a girl
We never saw before

Or ever will  I’m sure
There’s more than a few
Of those around

It was because
She seemed to feel
As well the time would come

When all there’d be
For us to see
Was that silence
In her eyes

John

As if she knew already
as the bulb flashed
what you would feel
within her face
years later

Enjoyed this...can even see it in my minds eye.

John, this is absolutely haunting....

I'm starting a list like yours, and this poem....if it's ok for me to include it, I'd like to.

I can't believe I nearly missed this.

Ed,

I'm so glad you read this . . .

The story doesn't end.
I was able, by good fortune
and just dumb luck, (I was actually
outbid but by someone that proved
less than able), to purchase
the portrait.  I've sent a file with
its picture to Mike and with his help
hope to post it for you and others
to see.

Yes, please do include it in your
file; she who it speaks of deserves that.

Again, I am so glad you read and like her
poem.

John

She is a beautiful lady, John, and your poem is an excellent compliment to her...

She's precisely as I pictured her, reading your poem....and looking into those eyes now, I feel as if I know her life story.

Ghost of the past, Memory to last
All yellowed and torn to long ago to mourn

Nice write

An artist caught her beauty with the brush and another artist expressed it with the pen.

Very beautiful.

Before I saw the picture, I saw her through your words... your pen portrayed her perfectly.

Now - while the leaves still dance on the wind
While the moon and the clouds come spinning
Will you whisper my name again?
