~in a moment of translucence~

wiping away the dust, the cobwebs,
the refuse of the us that never really was

the pure brightness of the morning sun hurt my eyes,
for they had become accustomed to a filtered disguise,
the mutual acceptance of our multi-layered lies

but what impacts my view most, is seeing you just walk away,
not caring enough to cast a backwards glance,
not asking why I was not willing to follow your clouded pathway

but it’s ok, for today I saw the sun shining brilliantly
through wide opened, clear unfiltered eyes

I am readily absorbing this illuminating new view
