She walked down the alley Like butter on a hot biscuit Twisted in thought Pure as honey Blind to the rats in the filth Staring back with eyes Dire in a quest Blocked only by their insurmountable greed Lust for the darkness Black as the evil in their eyes Halted in a shameless moment Resting on an ego or fortitude Knowing not as to the light she bears With a candle less flame she endures her silences Lost in aggravation A pursuit of dreams broken Then, finally, with breath anew Steps out of the dark Into the fading corners of yesterdays darkest shadows Stepping forward anew out of an antique future Remembering delicate a new past.
