Is Memory Like a Branch? |

Is memory like a branch receding in the leaves Slimming in the distance, giving depth to what one sees? Does it pass between us, “a given” without a name, Is it negative blue space planted between a tree’s frame? Once I knew a woman, loved her as my soul For decade I knew her, but no name she called my own. My name was just the space held between the trees. Twas not branch or limb, or the frolicking leaves; Rather, space where memory could not retrieve. She didn’t know my name or those of many others. Yet, without lettered clothes of address, She knew my heart, as would a mother. miscellanea This was written in thoughts of those who have loved ones with memory loss. Miscee....This touched me, as my grandmother didn't know me, but thought I was my mother...and she I. I think memory IS like a branch...I like that! Thanks. |

Martie, I am glad this touched you in a good way. I can hardly imagine the pain it causes so many. I can't help those who experience memory loss may be off into a simpler world, maybe one where they use a different type of sense than what we know. There must be more than five or nine senses... We just don't them all... cathy |

I know who you are speaking of, C, and this honors her. It is very deep. I know you still miss her very much, but she is still with you. When you think of her....I suspect, she's up on the other siding thinking about you, too. .....jo |

You may not post near as often as yours truly would like, but when you do post, it proves to have been well worth the wait. A tender and graceful penning from your compassionate heart. Love & Light, EA |

What an interesting way to convey such a topic. This comes pretty close as my years add up and I do find, not the sense of who someone is, but day to day things and thoughts just disappear, like a fallen leaf lost in the wind. Nice job! Ken Through rubble and trouble and dark of night |

It's a testament to your loving heart to write with such understanding about an illness that confuses many--people tend to take it personally when they aren't remembered, even when it ain't personal. You have a great depth of compassion m'friend. |

Great piece my friend, so far I've been fortunate in not having that happen in my family though several have lived into their 80's...me now, it's a wonder I remember my own name. Think I'll probably be the first to live this piece, if the present is any forerunner. Have met and known a few people this fit's and though I'm poking a little fun in this comment, I know better. jwesley. |

To all my friends here, Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts with me. I feel very humbled when posting a poem now and then, and not being able to respond to you. This year I've had an extreme job change that requires much planning, preparation, and implimentation. I'm putting in at least 13-14 hours every day at work and often an hour or two at home on the job; rarely can I find time to steal a minute to be online. I love what I'm doing, and sooner or later, I will get the knack for time management! Until then, please know that I miss you all and want to stop by and read your posts as soon as I'm able. ~cathy |

Beautifully said, m'lady.... ...as for me, if it's a branch I can't wait for somebody to run a brush-hog through some of it.... .....heh-heh-heh....Ed trashes yet another image.... ~~(¸¸¸¸ºº> ~~(¸¸¸¸ºº> ~~(¸¸ ¸¸ºº> ~~~(¸¸ER¸¸ºº> |

One of the most terrible of all afflicitions, it could seemingly make everything that once was disappear in a flash as the stranger is born. You write from the heart, Misc'e... as always. |
