the Andaman sounds
and resounds
it plays its soul music
it sings songs of lone gods
that emerge from her

one by one they appear

gods of fine silk stone
like ghosts
that whisper to the sleeping
in the shape of dark angels
and silver dreams

but i do not sleep

the ginger cat cradles his woes
and i am like a blind fish
eyes wide open
and Koh Yao Noi
is my reef

i drown in this sky

begging to forget
hands that did not reach
hands that did not touch

this is the way life is
burning with dreams

i gather the first light
it rises like a bell of grapes
bearing its blood-red wine
chasing the shadows away
scattered pink
like a hundred tiny crabs
beneath its first ripened
stomp

and gifts me with shells
and pebbles
picked
by her waves.

Koh Yao Noi  - An Island which lies in the Bay of Phuket in Southern Thailand

DarkAngel~
Like SisterSisMartie, I love the same lines -

'i gather the first light
it rises like a bell of grapes
bearing its blood-red wine
chasing the shadows away
scattered pink
like a hundred tiny crabs
beneath its first ripened
stomp',/i>

I've been remiss from being able to read,
AND respond....and intend to make up for it
tonight.

Starting here.

Written as if, you bent, and picked up
one of those magical shells, held it to your ear...and the sounds that came out
were the words of this poem...

excellent poetry-enjoyed

I can't possibly say it any better than Ford did!  Excellent imagery here Maree, just fantastic!
